Reformhaus Bacher GmbH & Co. KG located in Düsseldorf, Germany, runs over 80 stores, some of which under its own label better life. With approximately 500 employees and the nationwide network of branches, Bacher generates an annual turnover of € 45m, and thus belongs to the largest health food store chains in Germany. The assortment includes ecological and organic products in the categories food, cosmetics and non-food.

In addition to the management, NRW.BANK held shares in the company via a SME fund, which secured the growth of this specialist for sustainable products. With the involvement of NRW.BANK, the company was able to reposition itself successfully on the market and increase turnover by 30 percent.

NRW.BANK is the development bank for North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). It supports its owner - the state NRW – executing structural and economic policy tasks. For that purpose, the bank bundles development programs of the state, the federal state and the EU and combines it with own equity and debt capital products as well as consulting services.
