Branch business of the Oebel Group sold to various investors

Oebel Group

The Oebel Group with approx. 940 employees sold baked goods and pastries in the greater Rhine-Ruhr area through a branch network of 131 sales outlets. The daily offer included rolls, breads, pastries, cakes and tarts, as well as snacks and drinks, which were particularly popular in the food retail and downtown areas. The company was founded in 1900 and was headquartered in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia.

Entire Sales Process

In July 2019, the management of the Oebel Group (Zareal GmbH, Oebel-Verwaltungs-GmbH, Bäckerei Oebel GmbH, W. Kaiser Feinbäckerei-Konditorei-Betriebe GmbH, Germania Brot GmbH and Konditorei Brüder Oebel GmbH) filed for insolvency at local court in Aachen. On 09 July 2019, Dr. Dirk Wegener from the dhpg was appointed as insolvency administrator.

In October 2019, a large number of the remaining branches were handed over to various strategic investors of the Oebel Group. A substantial part of the existing jobs could be preserved.

The insolvency administrator mandated CVM Capital Value Management GmbH to support the search for an investor for the insolvent company. The team around Kai Peppmeier, managing director and partner of CVM, conducted the entire sales process, from the identification of potential investors and the selection of the ideal partner to the successful finalisation of the transaction.
