Hermesmeyer Group, based in Mülheim an der Ruhr, was founded in 1960 as a retailer for potatoes. Under the leadership of Frank and Dirk Hermesmeyer, the company soon become a potato processing business which, in addition to that, started to manufacture meat and sausage products in the 80s. Nowadays, the company is a wholesale distributor with about 90 employees. As such, the founding member of what is nowadays known as Lidega GmbH, has specialised on supplying snack food and catering businesses within North Rhine-Westfalia and adjacent regions. The product range offered comprises approximately 2,000 items. In-house meat and sausage products have received a number of awards by various committees and over several years. The product range is supplemented by diverse complementary products of the food sector such as French fries, sauces or mayonnaises. The distribution of the in- house and third-party goods is carried out by a company-own truck fleet. Hence, the Group is highly flexible not only regarding delivery volume but also regarding delivery times. The high level of services provided along with a well-balanced variety of products and assortment depth has created very high customer satisfaction and long-term customer relationships.

Entire Sales Process


The shareholders of Hermesmeyer Group have engaged CVM Capital Value Management GmbH in the context of succession arrangements and growth financing to help finding an appropriate investor. Conducting all necessary preparations and identifying the optimal time of the transaction, Hermesmeyer Group has been supported by CVM within a structured M&A process.

After an extensive search, Steadfast Capital has been found as an investor whose transaction structure and future corporate strategy fulfills both, personal and economic interests of the existing shareholders. The independent equity investor, founded in 2001, invests primarily in medium-size businesses within German-speaking countries as well as Benelux states. Thematically, the focus is on succession arrangements, spin-offs from larger groups and growth financing. Then, in June 2015, a stake in Hermesmeyer Group was acquired via Steadfast Capital Fund III, LP. Using the fund’s financial means and the expertise of the former and future Managing Director, Frank Hermesmeyer, the market position shall be strengthened and the growth of Hermesmeyer Group enhanced further. Marco Bernecker (Managing Partner of Steadfast Capital GmbH), for instance, says “(...) it is poised to take advantage of numerous areas of growth, both organically and through acquisition.” And the Founding Partner of the German Steadfast Capital Group, Nick Money-Kyrle, highlights “We look forward to working with management to support the successful expansion of the Group.”.
